Samurai Zombie Nation came out in 1990 for the NES, developed by KAZe. It was one of those strange, late-era releases that felt a bit out of place next to more polished titles, but it had a weird charm all its own.

You control a giant, disembodied samurai head that flies across the screen, firing projectiles from its mouth at an endless stream of enemies. The goal is simply to survive as long as possible, clearing each area of foes while dodging their attacks. The game progresses screen by screen, with a fixed, overhead perspective; you collect power-ups to enhance your shot, and the challenge ramps up quickly with aggressive enemy patterns. It feels chaotic and unforgiving, a constant scramble to stay alive just a little bit longer.
