Game Overview
New Strange Mario Bros (SMB1 Hack) is one of those rom hacks that messes with your head if you've played the original too much. Everything looks familiar at first—until you realize the goombas are replaced with weird floating heads and the pipes lead to places they shouldn't.
The level design is deliberately off, like someone rearranged the original stages while half-asleep. You'll jump into what looks like a standard platforming section, only to find the floor suddenly drops away or the platforms loop in on themselves. It's disorienting in a way that keeps you on edge.
Some of the sprite swaps are just unsettling—Mario's animations feel slightly wrong, and the enemies move in unpredictable patterns. Not sure if it's harder or just messing with muscle memory, but it definitely makes you play differently. If you're into weird, experimental hacks, this one sticks with you.
