Game Overview

NFL Video Pro Football on MS-DOS is one of those old-school sports games that somehow still holds up. The graphics are pure '90s pixel charm—blocky players, basic animations—but the gameplay? Surprisingly deep. You pick plays from a menu that looks like it was designed on a typewriter, then watch your little team execute them in that jerky, nostalgic way only DOS games could pull off.

What I love is how uncomplicated it feels compared to modern football sims. No 50-button controls, no endless menus—just pick a play and see what happens. The AI isn't dumb either; if you keep running the same play, the defense actually adjusts. I spent way too many afternoons as a kid trying to outsmart that pixelated opponent.

It's missing all the official team names and logos (this was before the NFL really cracked down on that stuff), but you can still tell who's supposed to be who. There's something weirdly satisfying about watching those tiny players celebrate a touchdown with three whole frames of animation. If you've got DOSBox set up, it's worth digging up a copy just to experience sports gaming before everything got so serious.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
