Game Overview

Oda Nobunaga - Haou no Gundan is one of those SNES games that flew under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. You take control of Nobunaga—yeah, that Nobunaga—leading his armies in chaotic, real-time battles where positioning and formations actually matter. No slow, grid-based turns here—just you, your wits, and a whole lot of enemy clans trying to stab you in the back.

The first thing you’ll notice is how fast everything moves. One minute you’re lining up archers on a hill, the next you’re scrambling to flank a cavalry charge before it smashes your front line. The formations feel powerful when they click, especially when you pull off a pincer attack and watch the enemy ranks collapse. And that soundtrack? Pure 16-bit adrenaline.

It’s not just mindless action, though. You’ve got to think like a warlord—when to push, when to fall back, and when to let loose with a well-timed special attack. If you’ve ever wanted to rewrite history as the so-called "Demon King," this is about as close as you’ll get on the SNES. Just don’t be surprised when you lose track of time mid-campaign.
