Game Overview

Panza Kick Boxing on the Amiga is one of those early fighting games that somehow nails the janky charm of the era. You pick from a small roster of fighters—each with their own exaggerated animations—and duke it out in a ring that looks like it was drawn in Deluxe Paint. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you figure out the timing for kicks and punches, it’s oddly satisfying. Don’t expect deep mechanics, though. It’s more about landing that one ridiculous spinning kick and watching your opponent flop to the ground.

Sound effects are hilariously crunchy, and the digitized grunts make every hit feel weightier than it probably should. I kept coming back just to see how long I could chain moves before the AI finally caught on. It’s not polished, but that’s part of the fun.
