Game Overview
Paper Mario feels like someone took a storybook and turned it into an RPG—in the best way possible. Bowser’s gone full supervillain this time, stealing a magic wand and kidnapping Peach (again), but this time he’s also locked up the seven Star Spirits who could actually stop him. So guess who’s gotta fix everything? Yep, Mario.
The battles are turn-based but way more fun than you’d expect—you’ve got timed button presses to boost attacks or blocks, and you’ll recruit weird little allies like a Goomba with a hat or a Koopa who’s way too into detective work. Oh, and badges? They’re like little power-ups you can mix and match to make Mario jump higher, hit harder, or even dodge attacks automatically. Half the fun is figuring out which combos work best.
Everything’s got this papercraft look—flat characters wobbling around a 3D world—and it somehow makes stomping on Goombas even more satisfying. You’ll wander through forests, deserts, and even a haunted mansion, solving puzzles and getting into trouble. It’s got that classic Mario charm, but with way more story and strategy than you’d expect.
Also, there’s a talking star that sounds way too cheerful for someone trapped in a jar.
