Play Peter Beardsley's International Football Online
Side-view soccer game with 8 selectable teams from 26 European nations. Features variable power shots, arcade-style ball physics, and fixed goalkeepers. Supports two-player tournament mode. Released for Amiga in 1988.

Peter Beardsley's International Football came out for the Amiga in 1988, published by Grandslam Entertainments. It was one of the early soccer games on the platform, arriving at a time when sports simulations were still finding their feet in terms of graphics and playability. It didn't try to be hyper realistic, but it had a certain charm that made it stand out among other titles of the era.
You control a team of players, switching between them to pass, tackle, and shoot. The main goal is simple: score more goals than the opponent. Two mechanics define the experience: variable power shots, where you hold the button to adjust shot strength, and goalkeepers who stay fixed on their line, making scoring feel more deliberate. The pacing is quick, almost arcade-like, and the ball physics can be unpredictable, which keeps matches lively. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes frantic, kickabout with friends.
