Game Overview
Pit Fighter on the Game Boy is this weirdly charming little beat 'em up with digitized sprites that somehow made the jump from arcades to handheld. You pick between three fighters—Buzz the brawler, Ty the kickboxer, or Kato the martial artist—and then just start throwing down in these small, claustrophobic arenas.
The zoom effects are kinda hilarious on the tiny screen, like the camera’s having a panic attack every time someone gets punched. Every few fights, you hit a "grudge match" where it’s sudden death—three knockdowns and you’re out. And yeah, the Masked Warrior at the end? Absolute nightmare if you don’t figure out his pattern fast.
It’s janky, the controls take some getting used to, but there’s something satisfying about landing a brutal combo and watching the bonus tally pop up after each fight. Just don’t expect it to play like Street Fighter.
