Pokémon Ultraskies is one of those GBA ROM hacks that feels familiar but still throws in enough surprises to keep you hooked. The overworld has this dreamy, almost pastel color palette that makes even the early routes feel fresh.

I remember wandering into a cave early on and running into a wild Ralts, which normally wouldn't be a big deal, except its sprite had this subtle glow effect. Little touches like that make it stand out from other hacks. The battles are snappy, and some of the trainer teams actually make you think instead of just spamming your starter.

That said, the difficulty spikes can be brutal if you're not grinding. There's one gym leader who wiped my team three times before I went back and caught a counter. Pokémon Ultraskies rewards patience, but it doesn't always feel fair.
