Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness is one of those DS games that just sticks with you. You wake up as a Pokémon—no trainer, no explanation—just you and your partner trying to figure out why you turned into, say, a Squirtle or a Pikachu. The dungeons are randomly generated, so no two runs feel exactly the same, and you’ll actually need to think about items and moves instead of just mashing A.
The story starts slow, but give it an hour and suddenly you’re emotionally invested in this weird little world where Pokémon form exploration teams. The music’s surprisingly good too—especially the dungeon tracks when things get tense. Just don’t get too attached to your Reviver Seeds; you’ll burn through them faster than you think.
