Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time is one of those games that sneaks up on you—you start off just picking your Pokémon partner (I always go with Chimchar, no regrets) and before long, you're deep in some randomly generated dungeon, desperately hoping you packed enough Oran Berries. The turn-based combat keeps things tense—one wrong move and a horde of wild Pokémon can wreck your whole team.
What really sticks with me is the story. It starts simple—you wake up as a Pokémon with no memory—but gets surprisingly emotional. There’s this one scene near the end that still hits hard, and I won’t spoil it, but let’s just say I wasn’t ready for a DS game to hit me like that. The dungeon crawling can get grindy, but the writing and music make it worth pushing through. If you like RPGs with actual heart, this one’s a gem.
