Play Pokemon Stadium 2 (J) Online

Your Johto team fights in slick 3D battles now, and those ridiculous mini-games—like spoon-feeding Lickitung—somehow steal hours. The AI actually punishes bad type matchups, so you can't just steamroll the Gym Leader Castle.

Game Overview

Pokemon Stadium 2 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, developed by Nintendo. It was a follow-up to the original Stadium, arriving during a time when the N64 was still home to plenty of multiplayer-focused games. This one built directly on the Pokemon Gold and Silver games, letting players bring their teams from the Game Boy titles into a more visually polished arena.

You control your Pokemon in turn-based battles, with the main goal being to defeat opponents across several modes, including the Gym Leader Castle and the challenging Round 2 Cup. Signature mechanics include the ability to rent pre-made Pokemon teams if you don't own the Game Boy games, and a suite of mini-games like Clefairy Says and Delibird's Delivery that are designed for multiplayer. The pacing is brisk during battles but the AI can be punishing if you don't strategize around type advantages. It feels satisfying to finally see your Johto team animated and battling in a three-dimensional space.
