Popeye (JU) (PRG 0) is an old-school NES platformer where you scramble up ladders and across platforms to catch hearts Olive Oyl drops from above. The controls feel stiff at first—Popeye moves like he’s got anchors tied to his shoes—but you get used to it.

Brutus is always lurking, and if he touches you, it’s game over unless you grab a spinach can first. The flying bottles and birds are just there to annoy you, really. The levels change up the layout, but the goal stays the same: grab enough hearts before time runs out.

It’s simple, sometimes frustrating, but there’s something oddly satisfying about knocking Brutus out with spinach and hearing that little victory tune. Popeye (JU) (PRG 0) won’t keep you hooked for long, but it’s a decent time-waster if you like retro platformers.
