Game Overview

Popeye (JU) (PRG0) is a classic NES arcade-style platformer where you play as Popeye trying to catch hearts and notes Olive Oyl drops from above. The first thing you notice is how simple it looks—just ladders and platforms—but Brutus moves in unpredictable patterns, and those flying bottles come out of nowhere.

Grabbing the spinach feels great when you pull it off, letting you punch Brutus across the screen for a few seconds. But the controls are a little stiff, especially when you're trying to climb ladders while dodging everything. The levels get harder fast, with more obstacles and tighter timing.

It's one of those games where you keep thinking "one more try" even after losing all your lives. Popeye (JU) (PRG0) is frustrating in that old-school way, but there's something satisfying about finally clearing a level after a dozen attempts.
