Play Ports of Call Online
Manage your shipping company, buy and sell cargo, grow your fleet, and navigate ports while keeping an eye on your budget in Ports of Call.
Ports of Call came out in 1987 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Rolf-Dieter Klein. It was a business simulation that fit right in with the era's growing interest in strategy and management titles, offering a more grounded alternative to the action and adventure games that dominated the platform.
You control a small shipping company, starting with a couple of beat-up freighters. Your main goal is to grow your fleet and turn a profit by buying low and selling high across various ports. Key mechanics include negotiating cargo prices, managing fuel and repair costs, and carefully piloting your ships into harbor to avoid costly collisions. The pacing is deliberate, almost meditative, but the difficulty comes from market fluctuations and the constant risk of bankruptcy. It feels like a quiet, persistent test of your patience and foresight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
