Game Overview

Powerslave, also known as Exhumed in some regions, came out in 1996 for MS-DOS as part of the Classic Games lineup, developed by Lobotomy Software. It arrived during a time when first-person shooters were rapidly evolving, and it carved out its own niche by blending fast-paced action with a distinct setting and some clever environmental puzzles.

You control a special forces soldier trapped in a cursed Egyptian city, fighting through temples, tombs, and otherworldly realms. Your main goal is to defeat the evil god Set by gathering four powerful artifacts. You explore the world screen by screen, using a mix of weapons like a knife, shotgun, and magical staff to take down enemies such as mummies, scorpions, and floating skulls. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups that grant new abilities, like walking on lava or breathing underwater, which open up previously inaccessible areas. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be punishing, especially when dealing with ambushes or navigating trap-filled rooms. It feels tense and immersive, with each new discovery pulling you deeper into its ancient, hostile world.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
