Game Overview

So here's the deal: you're the Prince, locked in a dungeon while the evil Jaffar's holding the princess hostage. You've got exactly one hour to escape, fight your way through guards, and stop a forced wedding. No pressure, right?

What makes Prince of Persia different from other NES platformers is how deliberate every move feels. You're not just running and jumping wildly—one wrong step and those spike traps will end you. The rotoscoped animations (they filmed a real guy moving!) make sword fights surprisingly tense—timing your blocks actually matters.

You'll chug potions to heal, trigger switches to open gates, and die a lot at first. The levels loop if you take too long, which I learned the hard way after getting stuck on that stupid chandelier jump for 20 minutes. Later versions add extra levels, but the NES original's still my favorite for its brutal simplicity.
