You’re a hovercab driver in a poisoned city, picking up sketchy fares while your headlight guns blast through gangs—upgrades turn your junker into a beast, but you’ll always wish you bought something else first.

Quarantine came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Imagexcel. It was one of those gritty, early 3D driving shooters that felt ambitious for the time, leaning into a cyberpunk aesthetic that was still finding its feet in games. You could tell it was pushing what the platform could handle, with its polygonal city streets and a persistent sense of urban decay.
You control a hovercab driver navigating a quarantined metropolis, picking up passengers for cash while fending off hostile gangs with mounted weaponry. Your main goal is to earn enough money to upgrade your vehicle and survive the escalating violence. Signature mechanics include first-person driving through interconnected city blocks, managing fuel and repairs between fares, and choosing which weapon upgrades to invest in, like chainguns or missile launchers. The pacing is tense; you're always low on resources, and every fare could be a trap. It feels like a desperate scramble to stay one step ahead in a city that wants you dead.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
