Game Overview

Road Rash on the Game Boy came out in 1996, published by THQ. It was a handheld take on the chaotic motorcycle combat racing that was already popular on home consoles. For its time, it was a pretty ambitious attempt to bring that kind of high-speed action to a small, monochrome screen.

You control a biker in a series of illegal street races. The main goal is to finish in the top three to earn cash and unlock faster bikes. Your signature moves involve punching and kicking rival riders off their bikes, or whacking them with a weapon like a chain or a crowbar if you can grab one. The police will also chase you down, trying to knock you over. The races are fast and difficult; one bad crash can end your chances completely. It feels like a frantic, messy brawl that just happens to be moving at 90 miles per hour.
