Rockman X came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that wave of action games that really pushed what the SNES could do, with detailed sprites and fast, responsive controls. It felt like a natural step forward from the original Mega Man series, both in look and in how it played.
You control X, a reploid who fights through screen by screen stages, using a charged buster shot and the abilities of defeated Maverick bosses. The main goal is to stop Sigma's rebellion, but a lot of the fun comes from exploring stages to find hidden upgrades like armor parts or health expansions. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty is sharp, especially in later stages and boss fights. It feels tight and demanding, where every jump and shot has to be deliberate.
