Game Overview

Rudra no Hihou came out on the Super Nintendo in 1996, developed by Square. It arrived late in the system's life, a time when many players were already looking ahead to newer consoles, so it never got much attention outside Japan. The EasyType version, which this translation is based on, tweaked some of the original's difficulty and made the experience a bit smoother for players.

You control one of three main characters, each with their own story that eventually intersects with the others. You explore towns and dungeons screen by screen, fighting enemies in turn based battles. The standout feature is the Mantra system: you name your own spells by combining syllables, which leads to unpredictable and often hilarious results. Your main goal involves collecting pieces of a powerful artifact to prevent a world ending disaster. The pacing is deliberate, with plenty of backtracking and experimentation encouraged. It feels like uncovering a secret everyone else missed.
