Rushing Beat is one of those SNES brawlers that somehow slipped under the radar—which is a shame, because it’s basically Final Fight with a grimy neon edge. You’ve got three fighters to choose from, and none of them mess around. I went with the big guy first, thinking he’d be slow, but nope—his piledrivers feel like they could crack concrete.
The streets are packed with goons who don’t wait their turn, so you’re constantly weaving between punches, grabbing pipes off the ground, or pulling off screen-clearing specials that eat up way too much health (worth it, though). And if you’ve got a friend around, the co-op turns the chaos up to eleven—just try not to elbow each other by accident.
Fun fact: This was called Rival Turf! outside Japan, and it spawned two sequels. But the original’s got this rough, arcadey charm—the soundtrack alone, all synths and bass, makes you feel like you’re kicking through a dystopian midnight alley. It’s not fancy, but sometimes you just want to punch a guy so hard he flips upside down.
