Sagaia on the Sega Master System came out in 1991, a Taito release that brought the Darius arcade experience home. It was one of the more ambitious shooters on the platform at the time, known for its branching paths and sci-fi setting.
You pilot a silver spacecraft, moving through horizontally scrolling stages filled with robotic sea creatures and mechanical bosses. Your main goal is to survive each stage, defeat the mid-boss and end-level guardian, and choose your next path from two options at the end. Key mechanics include collecting power-up icons to enhance your forward shots, missiles, and protective options, as well as managing two satellite options that orbit your ship and add firepower. The pacing is deliberate, with screen-filling enemies and precise dodging required; the difficulty is steep but fair. It feels tense and strategic, demanding your full attention from start to finish.
