Game Overview

Ever wanted to time travel with Hello Kitty? Sanrio Timenet - Kako Hen is this weird little Game Boy Color game where you bounce between eras with Sanrio characters, solving simple puzzles and chatting with oddly charming NPCs. The pixel art’s surprisingly vibrant for a GBC title—lots of pinks and pastels, obviously—and the whole thing feels like someone mashed together a point-and-click adventure with a Sanrio sticker book.

It’s not exactly challenging, but that’s kind of the point. You’re mostly here to poke around historical Japan (with, uh, cartoon animals), collect random items, and enjoy the low-key vibe. The dialogue’s full of that classic Sanrio sweetness, and there’s something oddly satisfying about watching My Melody react to feudal castles. Found it buried in a secondhand shop years ago and still boot it up when I want something cozy and uncomplicated.

Definitely more of a mood than a game, but if you’re into obscure retro oddities or just really love Sanrio’s aesthetic, it’s worth a look.
