Play Screamer (fast CPU required) Online
Race sports cars on winding tracks, manage damage, draft for speed boosts, and push your limits in this 1995 MS-DOS classic.
Screamer came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Virgin Interactive. It was a racing game from a time when 3D graphics were still a novelty, and it pushed the hardware of its day, demanding a fast CPU just to run smoothly. You could feel the ambition in its design, even if the technology showed its limits.
You control a selection of sports cars, racing on winding tracks through various environments. The main objective is straightforward: win the race. The game uses a behind-the-car perspective, with a focus on high speeds and tight cornering. Signature mechanics include drafting behind opponents to gain a speed boost and managing your car's damage from collisions. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can be punishing, especially as you move up the championship tiers. It feels like a raw, jittery burst of early 3D racing, where every finish line is a relief.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
