Game Overview

If you've ever wanted to command a squad of tiny, super-deformed Gundams, this is your game. Cross Drive throws you right into the thick of it—you'll start by picking pilots from different Gundam timelines (I always go for Char first, obviously) and kitting out their mobile suits with weapons that actually feel satisfying to use.

The battles are grid-based but move surprisingly fast for a tactical RPG. Watching your little SD units blast each other with beam rifles or charge in for melee never gets old. There's something weirdly charming about seeing epic Gundam showdowns play out with these chibi designs.

What surprised me was how much customization there is—you can mix and match parts from different mobile suits to create some ridiculous (and overpowered) combos. Just don't get too attached to your early units; halfway through, you'll probably ditch them for flashier late-game models.

It's all in Japanese, but if you're familiar with Gundam or SRPGs, you can muddle through. The sprites are crisp, the combat has weight to it, and there's enough fan service here to keep any mecha nerd happy.
