If you've ever wished Fire Emblem had tiny, chibi Gundams stomping around its battlefields, this obscure SNES tactical RPG is basically that dream come true. The first time I booted it up, I wasn't expecting much—just another Japan-only curio—but those squat little mobile suits won me over fast. There's something hilarious about watching these normally imposing war machines waddle into battle like determined toddlers.

Don't let the cute looks fool you, though. The grid-based combat gets surprisingly deep once you start unlocking units with different attack ranges and special abilities. I remember getting wrecked in my first few battles because I treated my Gundams like disposable chess pieces instead of the specialized weapons they are. The sprite work is packed with personality too—my favorite's still the Zaku II doing its little victory dance after a kill.

It's one of those games that makes you wonder why more people didn't localize SD Gundam stuff back in the day. If you're into retro strategy games or just love seeing mecha reimagined as pocket-sized warriors, this one's worth digging up.
