Game Overview

SD Gundam Generation - Zanscare Senki is one of those deep-cut SNES strategy games that only hardcore Gundam fans probably knew about back in the day. It covers the Zanscare War from Victory Gundam, so expect a lot of mobile suit battles with that classic SD (super deformed) art style.

What’s interesting is how it uses the Sufami Turbo—this weird little add-on that lets you connect it to other SD Gundam games. Never actually tried that myself, but the standalone game still holds up if you’re into turn-based tactics with tiny, angry-looking mechs. The maps are surprisingly detailed for an SNES title, and the unit upgrades actually matter, unlike some other strategy games where you just brute-force your way through.

Fair warning though, it’s all in Japanese, so unless you’re fluent or really determined, you might spend the first hour guessing at menus. Still, if you love old-school Gundam or obscure SNES strategy games, this one’s a neat little time capsule.
