Secret of the Silver Blades came out in 1990 for MS-DOS, developed by Strategic Simulations, Inc. It was part of their Gold Box series, which was a big deal for computer RPGs back then. The game picks up right after the previous one, Pool of Radiance, so you're already deep in the story when you start.
You control a party of up to six characters, managing their equipment, spells, and health as you explore the icy valley and its dungeons. The main goal is to uncover the mystery behind the silver blades and stop the evil threatening the region. Combat is turn-based on a grid, requiring tactical positioning, and you'll spend a lot of time mapping out dungeons screen by screen, dealing with traps and hidden doors. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be punishing if you're not careful with your resources. It feels like a slow, thoughtful crawl through a dangerous and cold world where every encounter demands your full attention.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
