Remember Deja Vu? Shadowgate uses that same point-and-click style, but throws you into a dark fantasy castle instead of a noir mystery. You're some poor adventurer sent to grab the Staff of Ages before a warlock summons a world-ending demon. Sounds heroic until you realize the place is crawling with monsters and booby traps—like, so many ways to die.

Seriously, this game loves killing you. Open the wrong door? Impaled. Fumble with a switch? Crushed. Let your torch burn out? You'll literally trip in the dark and snap your neck. It's brutal, but weirdly satisfying when you finally outsmart a trap. Just don't get attached to your first few characters.
