Play Shadowrun (Beta) Online
You wake up in a morgue with a bullet hole, then crawl through neon-lit alleys hacking systems and bargaining with sketchy dealers—sometimes you just pull the shotgun instead. That synth soundtrack hums while you piece together who left you dead.

Shadowrun came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Beam Software. It was a time when console RPGs were often straightforward fantasy or sci-fi adventures, but this one dropped you into a rainy, corporate-controlled future full of deckers and street samurai. It didn't look or sound like much else on the system.
You control a amnesiac runner hunting his own killer through a maze of interconnected city screens. The main goal is to gather clues, earn nuyen, and upgrade your gear by taking jobs from fixers. Key mechanics include real-time combat with firearms or spells, negotiating with contacts for information, and using cyberdecks to hack into corporate systems. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is unforgiving if you rush in unprepared. It feels like slowly untangling a knot while watching your back in every shadowy corner.
