You play as Jake Armitage, an amnesiac trying to uncover who killed him and why. You explore the isometric streets of Seattle, talking to contacts, buying cyberware, and hiring other runners for backup. Combat is real time, relying on aimed shots and quick reflexes, while the hacking mini-game uses a grid based puzzle system to breach corporate systems. The game moves slowly, demanding careful resource management and patience with its sometimes unforgiving difficulty. It feels like piecing together a mystery in a world that doesn't care if you survive.
