Game Overview

Shogun came out in 1986 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Infocom. It was a strategy title from a time when many games expected you to read a manual before even starting, placing you right into the complex political landscape of feudal Japan without much ceremony.

You control a daimyo vying for control of the islands, managing armies, forging alliances, and betraying rivals when it suits you. The main objective is to conquer all provinces and become shogun. Signature mechanics include moving armies across a strategic map screen by screen, engaging in tactical combat resolved through simple menus, and managing resources like gold and rice to fund your campaigns. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is high, with enemy lords quick to pounce on any weakness. It feels like a constant, tense game of chess where every move could lead to your downfall or a narrow victory.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
