Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Imagineering Inc. It was one of those early platformers that tried to capture the show's humor, but it definitely had that era's rough edges. You played as Bart Simpson, trying to stop an alien invasion right in Springfield.
You control Bart through side-scrolling levels, jumping on platforms and avoiding hazards. Your main goal is to find and destroy all purple objects in each stage, since the aliens are using them for their evil plans. You also collect items like firecrackers and spray paint to solve puzzles or defeat enemies. The game is known for its high difficulty, with precise jumps and some frustrating enemy placements. It feels like a genuine challenge, but finishing a level gives you a real sense of accomplishment.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
