Game Overview

SimTown came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Maxis. It was a simpler, kid-friendly take on the city-building genre, arriving in an era when many players were still getting used to managing complex simulations on their home computers.

You act as the town planner, placing pre-made buildings like houses, parks, and stores from a set of stamps onto a grid-based map. Your main goal is to keep your citizens happy by providing jobs, managing pollution, and adding enough amenities. Key mechanics include naming each resident (often with silly, personal touches) and responding to random events, like a dinosaur stomping through a neighborhood or a UFO making a crop circle. The pace is relaxed, with no real way to fail, making it less about challenge and more about casual creation. It feels like gently arranging a digital diorama that sometimes has a mind of its own.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
