Sink or Swim came out in 1993 for the Super Nintendo, developed by Zeppelin Games. It was one of those puzzle action games that felt right at home on the SNES, a system full of inventive takes on familiar genres. You control a small rescue sub, and your only goal is to save every passenger from a luxury liner that's flooding and on fire. The core gameplay is a mix of clearing a path and direct rescue. You use your sub's claw to stack crates, creating platforms for survivors to walk across, and you have a limited supply of bombs to blow up blocked doorways or extinguish fires. The passengers themselves are almost helpless; they wander into danger constantly, which adds a layer of frantic urgency. It's a tough game that demands careful planning under pressure, and finishing a stage feels like a genuine relief.
