Sonic Colors on the Nintendo DS came out in 2010, developed by Dimps and published by Sega. It was part of that late DS era where developers really knew how to push the hardware, offering a solid side-scrolling Sonic experience that felt right at home on the handheld.
You control Sonic, running and jumping through themed stages in Dr. Eggman’s interstellar amusement park. Your main goal is to rescue alien creatures called Wisps and stop Eggman’s latest scheme. The gameplay mixes classic platforming with new Wisp powers; for example, the Cyan Laser lets you ricochet off targets to reach new areas, while the Yellow Drill burrows through soft ground. The pacing is fast but manageable, with occasional slower, puzzle-like sections. It feels responsive and energetic, especially when you chain moves together and keep your momentum going.
