Game Overview
If you grew up with Sonic but missed some of the weirder, rarer titles, this GameCube collection’s got you covered. It bundles together oddballs like Sonic CD (the one with the time-travel gimmick), the arcade-only Sonic the Fighters (yes, a Sonic fighting game exists), and Sonic R (that racing spinoff with the hilariously cheesy soundtrack).
Some of these games feel a little rough around the edges now—Sonic the Fighters is janky as hell—but there’s charm in digging through the series’ forgotten corners. The real prize is Sonic CD, which still holds up as one of the best classic Sonic experiences. Just don’t expect everything here to be a masterpiece.
It’s basically a time capsule of Sonic’s experimental phase, warts and all.
