Sonic the Hedgehog: Genesis came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2006, published by THQ. It was a portable version of the original Sega Genesis game, arriving late in the GBA's life when players were used to more polished titles. This wasn't a new adventure, just a chance to take the classic zones on the road.
You control Sonic, running through side-scrolling stages, jumping on enemies, and gathering rings. The main goal is to defeat Dr. Robotnik by racing to the end of each act, though special stages let you chase Chaos Emeralds. Signature mechanics include building momentum to run up loops and using spin dashes to plow through obstacles. The pacing is fast when it works, but the port suffers from noticeable slowdown and awkward physics that make precise platforming a challenge. It feels like playing a familiar song on an slightly out-of-tune instrument.
