Space Ace II: Borf's Revenge, Disk 2 came out for the Amiga in 1991 from ReadySoft and Empire Software. It was a time when full-motion video games were a novelty, pushing the limits of what the hardware could do with its animated visuals. This was the second part of a two-disk set, continuing the animated adventure directly from where the first disk left off.
You control the hero, Dexter, or his older, more capable form, Space Ace, through a series of 27 interactive animated scenes. The main objective is to survive Borf's traps and defeat his minions by reacting quickly to on-screen prompts. The core mechanics involve using the cursor keys for movement and the Insert key to fire your laser; you have three lives and can restart from one of four checkpoints after losing them all. The challenge comes from avoiding fatal animations by entering the correct directional or action commands within a very short time window. It feels like a tense, reactive dance with the animation, where a single mistimed button press leads to a quick, often humorous, death.
