Space Ace II - Borf's Revenge is one of those classic Amiga games that feels like a time capsule from the '90s. You play as Dexter (or his cooler alter-ego, Ace), trying to rescue Kimberly from the villainous Borf. The animation still holds up surprisingly well—smooth rotoscoped movements that give it this weirdly fluid charm.
Gameplay’s all about quick-time events before quick-time events were a thing. You’ve got to hit the right direction or button at the exact moment, or you’ll watch poor Dexter get zapped, crushed, or just generally humiliated. Some of the sequences are brutal, but nailing them feels so satisfying. And yeah, the difficulty spikes are real—Borf doesn’t mess around.
Disk 6 is where things get properly intense, with some of the wildest set pieces in the game. If you’ve got an Amiga or an emulator, it’s worth dusting off just to see how ambitious these old FMV-style games could be.
