Space Ace II: Borf’s Revenge is one of those old-school laserdisc games where you feel like you're playing through a Don Bluth cartoon—because you basically are. You guide Dexter (or his buffed-up alter ego, Space Ace) through quick-time events before they were even a thing. Press the right direction or hit the fire button at the exact moment, or watch poor Dexter get zapped, crushed, or otherwise meet a cartoonishly grim fate.
It’s all about timing—miss a keystroke by half a second, and you’re staring at a game over screen. The Amiga version cuts some corners (12 floppy discs somehow still wasn’t enough for the full arcade experience), but the animation holds up surprisingly well. Just don’t expect deep gameplay—this is more like an interactive cartoon where you mash keys to keep the story alive.
Save points help, but you’ll still memorize a lot of scenes through trial and error. If you’ve got nostalgia for early FMV games, this one’s a weird little time capsule.
