Game Overview

Spear of Destiny is basically Wolfenstein 3D’s edgier cousin—same engine, same frantic shooting, but with a medieval occult twist. You’re still blasting Nazis (sort of), except now they’re guarding pieces of the spear that stabbed Jesus, because of course they are. The levels feel a bit more maze-like than Wolfenstein’s, with these weird dungeon and castle sections that keep you backtracking for keys.

There’s no shareware version, just a tiny 2-level demo that barely scratches the surface. The full game throws 19 proper levels at you, plus two secret ones hidden in the first half—good luck finding those without a map. The bosses are… well, they’re basically just beefed-up dudes with more health, but back in ’92, that was enough to make you sweat. If you miss the simplicity of old-school shooters, this one’s a solid time capsule.
