Game Overview

Spider-Man 2 for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2004, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was one of the many licensed games on the platform, but it stood out for its solid mechanics and faithful adaptation of the movie's tone. On a system crowded with superhero titles, this one managed to feel responsive and thoughtfully designed, even with the hardware limitations.

You control Spider-Man through a series of side-scrolling levels, swinging between buildings and fighting thugs with punches, kicks, and web attacks. The main goal is to stop Doctor Octopus, but along the way you face villains like Mysterio and Shocker in screen by screen boss encounters. Key mechanics include using your web to pull enemies closer or swing across gaps, and a simple but effective combat system that lets you string together combos. The pacing is brisk, and some later sections get genuinely challenging, especially when dodging Doc Ock's mechanical arms. It feels satisfying to move through the city, even on the small screen.
