You take turns playing as SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward, each with a unique move set for navigating levels and fighting enemies. SpongeBob blows bubbles to attack and float, Sandy uses her lasso to swing across gaps, Patrick throws junk, and Squidward... well, he mostly just complains while you make him jump. The goal is to stop Plankton from taking over Volcano Island, which involves beating up robot minions, collecting spatulas to unlock new areas, and completing short vehicle stages. The pace is brisk, and the difficulty is manageable, though some sections demand precise timing, especially during boss fights.
