Play SpongeBob SquarePants and Friends - Battle for Volcano Island (E)(LightForce) Online

Okay, so SpongeBob SquarePants and Friends: Battle for Volcano Island is basically what happens when you take the weirdest parts of Bikini Bottom and turn them into a chaotic little GBA platformer. You start off with SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy—each handles totally differently, which I wasn’t expecting. Sandy’s all about swinging from vines like some kind of karate squirrel, Patrick just smashes everything in his path (very on-brand), and SpongeBob… well, he blows bubbles at enemies. Of course he does.

The whole thing feels like a lost episode of the show, complete with dumb jokes and those weird little sound effects SpongeBob makes when he jumps. The levels are packed with hidden stuff—golden spatulas, obviously—and the bosses are ridiculous in the best way. Ever fought a giant evil clam? You will.

It’s not gonna win awards for difficulty, but who cares? It’s SpongeBob. The music’s catchy, the colors are obnoxiously bright, and at one point Patrick wears a coconut bra. That’s all I needed.
