Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron came out on the Nintendo DS in 2009, published by LucasArts. It was one of the more ambitious portable attempts to capture the large scale battles of the console Battlefront games, fitting a surprising amount of action onto the dual screens during the handheld's peak years.

You control a custom clone or droid trooper, fighting across famous locations to complete mission objectives like capturing command posts or destroying key targets. The touch screen manages your inventory and weapon selection, while the top screen displays the frantic combat. You spend most of your time blasting enemy troopers, hijacking vehicles like speeders and walkers, and occasionally getting wrecked by a surprise Jedi hero unit. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can spike sharply during vehicle sections or hero encounters. It feels like a condensed, chaotic war stuffed into your pocket.
