Play Starcross Online
You wake up stranded on a creaky alien ship, typing commands like "smell the weird liquid" while the airlock hisses ominously—that old text parser somehow makes every typo feel like a death sentence.

Game Overview
Starcross is one of those old-school MS-DOS text adventures that somehow makes typing "examine rusty panel" feel like a life-or-death decision. You wake up alone on this creepy alien ship—no lasers, no health bars, just you and a very stubborn command prompt trying to figure out why the airlocks keep cycling on their own.
The parser actually understands decently complex sentences (for 1982), which is great when you're desperately typing "unscrew floor panel with spanner before the oxygen runs out." Half the time you're second-guessing whether that distant clanking noise is part of the atmosphere or just your ancient PC's hard drive struggling.
What I love is how it turns limitations into strengths—your imagination fills in way scarier visuals than any pixel art could. Found myself actually jumping when the game casually mentioned "something wet brushes your ankle in the dark." Classic sci-fi horror vibe, like if Arthur C. Clarke wrote a haunted house story. Just don't expect mercy when you forget to save.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
