Starlord came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by MicroProse Ltd. It was one of those space strategy titles from the era that didn't try to dazzle with graphics but instead focused on deep, sometimes unforgiving, mechanics. You're managing an interstellar empire, and the game expects you to pay attention to every detail, from resource allocation to diplomatic relations with alien races.

You control a fledgling space empire, and your main goal is to expand your influence while surviving encounters with rival factions. The gameplay involves screen-by-screen exploration of star systems, managing mining operations to gather resources, and engaging in tactical space combat that often feels clunky but deliberate. You'll also need to bribe or negotiate with aliens to avoid unnecessary conflicts. The pacing is slow and methodical, with a high difficulty curve that punishes rash decisions. It feels like a tense balancing act where every choice carries weight, and one miscalculation can lead to your entire civilization collapsing under pressure from a more aggressive neighbor.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
