Street Racer on the Game Boy came out in 1994, published by Ubisoft. It was one of those handheld racing games that tried to capture the feel of console kart racers, but on a much smaller screen. The hardware limitations were obvious, but it still offered a quick dose of racing when you were away from home.
You control a small car from a top-down perspective, racing against computer opponents on tracks filled with obstacles and hazards. The main goal is to finish first in a series of cups, earning points to unlock faster vehicles. Signature mechanics include picking up power-ups like oil slicks and missiles to disrupt rivals, and navigating tight, maze-like courses that demand sharp turns. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as opponents become more aggressive. It feels like a constant scramble to stay ahead while dodging whatever gets thrown your way.
